This imaginary myth
figures appears during certain dramatic
ceremonial performances among some of
the native peoples of the Northwest
Coast. No two masks and body costumes
are alike for the Sea-Eagle. In this
one, a two-part transformation mask
(eagle and man) has opened up to reveal
the inner human being who can transform
himself at will into an eagle.
